From Concept to Recognition: My Design MasterPrize Best of Best Interview for Forzax, 2025
Every designer experiences defining moments that validate years of dedication, experimentation, and persistence. For me, one of those moments came when Forzax, an industrial lighting product designed for EDC, was awarded the prestigious Best of Best recognition at the 2025 Design MasterPrize. The project was recognized in the Office Lighting category, placing it among the highest-ranked product designs of the year.
Following this achievement, I was invited to participate in an exclusive interview with Design MasterPrize, where I had the opportunity to share the story behind the project, its inspiration, and the design philosophy that guided its development. The interview was later published by Design MasterPrize as part of their award-winning designer series.
Designing Beyond Illumination
Forzax was never intended to be just another industrial lighting fixture.
From the beginning, my goal was to challenge the conventional perception of industrial lighting by combining engineering performance with emotional and visual value. Inspired by the precision, aerodynamics, and detailing found in automotive design, the project sought to create a product that could elevate industrial environments while delivering exceptional functionality.
The result was a modern pendant luminaire that balances minimal aesthetics with robust performance. Its modular structure allows adaptation to different installation heights and industrial applications, while optional intelligent controls enable adaptive lighting based on occupancy, environmental conditions, and energy consumption patterns.
“Finally, the design had to support a clear product strategy. The same core design needed to work across multiple versions, from an economical configuration to more advanced and premium options, while maintaining a consistent identity and performance logic.”

Sharing the Story Behind the Award
The Design MasterPrize interview provided a valuable opportunity to discuss the creative process behind Forzax and the challenges involved in designing for industrial environments.
Throughout the conversation, I spoke about the importance of balancing aesthetics, manufacturability, and user experience. Industrial products often focus exclusively on technical performance, but I believe great design happens when functionality and emotional connection coexist.
The interview also explored how contemporary industrial lighting can benefit from design principles traditionally associated with automotive and consumer products—creating solutions that are not only efficient but also visually inspiring.
The Meaning of Best of Best
Receiving a Design MasterPrize award was already an honor. Receiving the Best of Best distinction made the achievement even more meaningful.
The recognition reflects not only the success of a single product but also the collaborative effort between design, engineering, manufacturing, and innovation teams at EDC. It validates the belief that industrial products deserve the same level of design attention and refinement as any consumer-facing product.
Forzax demonstrates that industrial lighting can be intelligent, elegant, and emotionally engaging while meeting the demanding performance requirements of modern workplaces.
